HYDRAULIC FRACTURING TECHNIQUE IN TWO PARALLEL HORIZONTAL BOREHOLES Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC E21B43/26 

FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: technique includes determining primary stress direction in the reservoir, drilling two parallel boreholes, their casing, cementing and perforating and performing hydraulic fracturing. Two parallel horizontal boreholes are drilled in the same plane in direction of minimum stress. Considering primary stress of the reservoir optimal location of fractures is calculated and position points for initiating hydraulic fracturing is identified. Perforation and hydraulic fracturing of the first stage are performed in both horizontal boreholes; intervals of performed hydraulic fracturing of the first stage are isolated by installation of frac plugs. Then perforation, hydraulic fracturing of the second stage and isolation by installation of frac plugs are performed with offsetting points of hydraulic fracturing initiation. Fractures in one borehole are oriented towards intermediate zone of the other borehole. Points of hydraulic fracturing initiation at adjacent horizontal boreholes may be shifted in regard to each other per a half of length of hydraulic fracturing intervals.

EFFECT: improving the efficiency of reservoir hydraulic fracturing.
