SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a locking mechanism for furniture items and is aimed at simplifying the design of the mechanism. In the locking mechanism for a furniture item, which comprises a gauge wheel which has a locking structure at least in some areas, and a mating stop which interacts with the locking structure of the gauge wheel, at that the mating stop consists essentially of a sheet metal part, at that the mating stop is made spring-type, preferably in the form of a spring reed, according to the invention the gauge wheel is located in a plane forming a mating stop of the sheet metal part.
EFFECT: simplified design of the mechanism.
