SUBSTANCE: invention relates to audio signal processing and is intended for encoding and decoding audio signals. A high bandwidth decoder decodes high bandwidth encoded data and outputs coefficient tables having coefficients for corresponding high bandwidth subbands which are established based on the index of a coefficient obtained by decoding. A circuit for calculating the power of decoding a high bandwidth subband calculates decoded power values of the high bandwidth subband for the corresponding high bandwidth subband based on low bandwidth signals and the coefficient table, and a module for generating a decoded high bandwidth signal generates decoded high bandwidth signals from said decoded power values of the high bandwidth subband. Meanwhile an expansion and contraction module regenerates or deletes coefficients from the coefficient table for corresponding subbands such that they match the number of subbands of the calculated decoded power values of the high bandwidth subband, thereby expanding or contracting the coefficient table.
EFFECT: improving audio quality by expanding bandwidth.
