FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: in a method of operating a plant for producing urea from CO₂ and ammonia, comprising at least two systems connected in parallel, when the ammonia synthesis equipment of one of the systems is disconnected, liquefied ammonia, stored in the disconnected system, is used. The amount of extracted CO₂ is increased in the CO₂ extraction equipment in the ammonia synthesis equipment of another system. Synthesis of urea in the urea synthesis unit of the disconnected system can continue through the increased amount of extracted CO₂ and liquefied ammonia. As a result, operation of the remaining one of the two systems is carried out in standard operation conditions to obtain urea, and synthesis of urea can continue until the restart at the industrial plant for producing urea of even that system which could have been disconnected in normal conditions.

EFFECT: invention prevents considerable reduction in the output of urea even when ammonia synthesis equipment is disconnected.
