FIELD: weapon and ammunition.

SUBSTANCE: reconnaissance is performed by means of the telemetric thermal temperature sight of the missile system launcher. The operator sets the right and left boundaries of search sector with reference to the missile system launcher, two-coordinate search trajectory and speed of movement of the sight in horizontal and vertical directions. Switching of target search and detection into automatic mode is performed by operator command from the control panel. Search is conducted by automatic scanning in pre-set sector by sending of control commands from the control panel for elevation and train power drives of the launcher according to pre-set two-coordinate trajectory and pre-set search speeds. Target is detected by occurrence of the target image in the sight. At setting of automated target tracking the automatic scanning is disabled.

EFFECT: decrease of load on operator and improvement of reconnaissance efficiency.
