FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: magnetic flaw detection method includes magnetising an inspected object, placing an induction transducer over the surface of the object, while aligning the axis of the coils of the induction transducer parallel to the surface of the inspected object, moving the induction transducer on the surface of the inspected object and determining presence and parameters of continuity defects from the output voltage of the induction transducer, wherein during scanning, vibratory displacement of the induction transducer is generated along the axis of its coils in the direction of movement; a harmonic component with a frequency equal to double the frequency of the vibratory displacement is extracted from the output voltage of the induction transducer; the maximum value of said component is recorded and then used to determine the location and parameters of the defects.
EFFECT: high selective sensitivity to continuity defects and wider field of use.
