FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: when sealing stocks (1) of insulating glass units a sealing mass (3) from a sealing nozzle (7) is introduced into an edge joint (2) of the insulating glass unit stock (2). At the same time in front of the sealing nozzle (7) there is a tab (15) of material formed from sealing mass (3), released in front of the sealing nozzle (7). The size of this tab (15) of material is proportionate to quantity of the sealing mass (3), introduced into the edge joint (2) per units of time. Sealing is controlled depending on length of the material tab (15) recorded by a sensor (10). At the same time, in particular, quantity of the sealing mass (3) supplied per unit of time into the sealing nozzle (7) and/or relative speed between the stock (1) of the insulating glass unit and the sealing nozzle (7) is regulated depending on length of the material tab (15) recorded by the sensor (10).
