FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: to measure radius of curve of a cylindrical surface (convex or concave) a tool is used on the basis of a vernier caliper, including a base (a frame with a vernier) with a bar with a measuring scale inserted into the frame, measuring grips, a clock-type indicator installed into a cartridge and a stop screw, at the same time the clock-type indicator is installed together with the cartridge on an additional bar installed on the frame on the back side of the main vernier caliper bar, connected movably with the latter with the possibility of movement relative to it, besides, the axis of the measuring rod of the clock-type indicator is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the additional rod, and in the initial (zero) position matches the place of contact of internal surfaces of measuring grips, and the end of the measuring rod of the indicator matches the plane stretching perpendicularly to the axis of the measuring rod in extreme points of measuring grips. When measuring radius of curve of the cylindrical surface the measuring grips are installed onto the measured surface of the rail for the size of rolling path width L, and the axis of the measuring rod of the clock indicator is set by movement of the additional bar by size l along the additional scale, equal to half of width of the rolling path L, and measures height of segment h from chord tightening the radial arc of the rolling path cylindrical surface contour. Radius of curve of the cylindrical surface is determined as equal to quotient of division of the sum of squares of half-width of rolling path and height segment measured from chord, tightening radial arc of rolling path cylindrical surface contour, by doubled height segment.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of measurement.
