FIELD: measurement technology; devices for measuring diameters by rolling circle of wheel-set tires or diameters of seamless-rolled wheels of rolling stock. SUBSTANCE: tire vernier caliper has snap gage coaxially interconnecting two bars. Installed on bars in plane perpendicular to snap gage plane are measuring heads. One measuring head is immovable and the other is made for motion in longitudinal direction relative to bar. Measuring heads have supporting surfaces and tips. Movable measuring head is also provided with vernier and lock mechanism. Bar carrying movable measuring head serves as longitudinal guide and has linear scale with numbered divisions. Movable measuring head is made for turning relative to bar longitudinal axis through angle of 80-100 deg. Offered device allows measurement with required accuracy of diameter by rolling circle of wheel-sets or diameter of seamless-rolled wheels directly under locomotive in course of scheduled maintenance inspection. EFFECT: reduced expenditures for servicing and repair of wheel-sets, premature detection of difference of wheel-set diameters resulting in intensive one-sided wear of tire ridge. 4 dwg
