SUBSTANCE: device comprises a clamping conveyor (1) and the endless chains (2, 3, 4) with the needles (5) located on two sides at an acute adjustable angle to it, the trajectory of which at the place of their exit from the layer of stems is adjusted according to the width of the combed portion of the layer. The combing mechanism comprises at least two needle chains mounted successively on each side of the clamping conveyor (1). The step (t1, t2, tn) of the needles (5) on each of the subsequent chains (3, 4) is decreased (t1 > t2 > tn).
EFFECT: increased efficiency of combing stem layer.
