FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for titrimetric determination of uranium in solutions in the presence of vanadium includes adding to the analysed solution phosphoric acid, followed by 10-15 ml of 2 mol/dm3 sulphuric acid and 5-10 ml tert-butanol. Further, uranium and other components of the mixture are reduced with titanium (III) chloride, followed by adding 2-3 droplets of saturated iron (III) chloride and sodium nitrite solution. Urea is then added. Titration is carried out by oxidising uranium with a sulphuric solution of ammonium vanadate while detecting a potential jump in the range of 550-600 mV. Concentration of uranium is determined from the amount of ammonium vanadate spent in order to reach the titration curve derivative peak.
EFFECT: high accuracy and sensitivity, faster analysis.
