SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a household appliance and a method of using a heat pump in the household appliance, and in particular to a household appliance for washing and drying articles. The household appliance comprises a working chamber (5) for placing articles to be washed and dried, and a heat pump (9) comprising a warm side equipped with a condenser (11), and a cold side equipped with an evaporator (13), where the condenser is adapted to heat water to be used in the working chamber, and the evaporator is adapted to cool the liquid in the heat reservoir (15) for storing heat generated in the cold side of the heat pump in heating with the condenser. The condenser is located in the reservoir (7) for water, adapted for supplying water to the working chamber.
