FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: unit comprises a device (D) for axial retention of a rod and adjustment of its position during rotation, a welding chamber (C), a grip and means to close the grip on the rod. At the same time the specified means comprise a pusher (32) for applying axial force to the grip, a linear actuating mechanism (44) with an axis (X2), parallel to the longitudinal axis (X) of the device, a fork (46), which progressively is fixed to the specified pusher and may freely rotate around the fixed axis (Y), located at the right angle to the longitudinal axis (X), and is not crossed with it. The fork (46) is connected and may rotate relative to a mechanism (44) around the fixed axis (Y1), parallel to the axis (Y), arranged at the right angle so that the mechanism (44) forces the fork (46) to rotate around the first axis (Y), arranged at the right angle, and forces the pusher to slide, closing the grip on the rod.
EFFECT: simplification and increased reliability of a device for retention of a fuel element.
