SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image processing. The result is achieved by that the background is differentiated from an uncoded foreground by copying in a signal generated by the image sensor of a camera which records an image, the copying including a background which displays periodically alternating different image components, wherein component display is synchronous with camera exposure such that the camera records only one of the components in at least one period.

EFFECT: differentiating between a background and a foreground in images or film scenes recorded by an electronic camera, as well as replacing the background in recorded images or film scenes while saving the foreground.
