FIELD: physics, computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering and specifically to automated search engines. Disclosed is a computer-implemented method of generating contextual queries. The method includes a step of receiving a user query and context, the context being provided by one or more applications used by the user during the current query session. Further, the method includes generating a semantic representation of said query using knowledge area ontologies, wherein the knowledge area ontologies identify filters, concepts and relationships in a certain number of categories, and also refine the semantic representation using filters associated with each knowledge area, tracked in the current query session.
EFFECT: high accuracy of presenting the user with relevant information owing to generation of contextual search queries associated with a semantic representation of data.
