FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: optical amplifier head with a diode pumping counter-reflector consists of, arranged in a housing, an active element in the form of a rod, diode pumping elements arranged uniformly around and along the active element on holders, and a cooling system comprising a pipe encircling the active element to form an annular channel with a width δ, channels in the housing, each holder and pumping elements and input and output collectors. Each holder comprises a reflecting surface facing the active element; the ends of the active element are attached in clamps mounted in the housing; the cooling system is in the form of a single loop.As the diode pumping elements lines of laser diodes are used each provided with a cylindrical lens, and the reflecting surfaces of the holders are located along the surface of the active element and encircle the said element diametrically.
EFFECT: reducing the hydraulic resistance of the cooling system.
