SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication, more specifically to wireless beacon compression systems. The invention particularly discloses a method for communication in a wireless network, the method including a step of transmitting, at an access point, a full beacon at the first multiple of a beacon interval, and transmitting a compressed beacon at each beacon interval which is not the first multiple of the beacon interval. Another method for communication in a wireless network includes a step of receiving, at a wireless device, a full beacon at the first multiple of a beacon interval and receiving a compressed beacon at the beacon interval which is not the first multiple of the beacon interval.
EFFECT: invention reduces overhead when transmitting beacon signals by reducing the frame size.
