SUBSTANCE: invention provides a method for imparting distinctive visually distinct signs to a plurality of articles in a continuous mode using a printing and/or embossing cylinder. The circumference of the cylinder should be different from the total length of an integer number of articles, i.e. from the length of one article, multiplied by an integer. In the standard batch the number of articles, each of which has a distinctive, visually distinct sign, provided before the said visually distinct signs start to be repeated as such, exceeds the number of articles, through which the distinct signs are imparted after one complete revolution of the cylinder. The present invention also relates to a package comprising a plurality of articles, each of which has a visually distinct sign, where the said visually distinct sign of each of the said articles is different from the visually distinct signs of all the other articles in the said package so that the first article comprises a first visually distinct sign comprising at least a part of the first visually distinct element of the pattern, and the second article comprises a second visually distinct sign comprising at least a part of the said first visually distinct element of the pattern, where the said first and second visually distinct signs are different from each other.
