FIELD: agriculture; machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agricultural machine building, namely to methods of investigating coefficient of friction of loose materials. Method of determining coefficient of friction of loose materials consists in that analysed material is placed in cylinder on rotary screw surface, installed along cylinder axis. At that, its rotation frequency is determined by formula where g is gravitational acceleration, m/s2; D is diameter of helical surface, m; kV is factor of linear velocity of particles. Then in process of determining coefficient of friction is determined by volume of analysed material, moved per one revolution of rotating screw surface, using formula where Q is volume of transferred material, m3; t is duration of experience, s. At that, coefficient of friction is determined by formula where η is ratio of S pitch to diameter D of helical surface; λ is ratio of diameter D0 helical line pressure centres of loose material on screw surface to diameter of screw surface D.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining coefficient of friction of loose materials.
