FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming, particularly to open die forging type rings upsetting end face. Die includes upper and lower halves with prints forming a stream, a box and a flash bridge. Bridge is formed by coupling of adjacent to stream of section with extending beyond end of forgings section formed by projection on one half of die and groove on other half. Coupling ledge with adjoining stream section of flash bridge is made rounded. Centres of circles of ledge and groove with radii R1 and R2 are located not higher than line parallel to base of projection and passing through centre of rounding. Centre of circle with radius R2 is displaced relative to centre of circle with radius R1 ledge from groove by a value that does not exceed h/2, where h is calculated height of flash on flash bridge. Ledge and groove form a divergent section of flash bridge.
EFFECT: reduced forging force and reduced metal consumption.
