FIELD: working of metal.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing of metals by pressure and can be used in open die-forging of axisymmetric annular forgings forged into the end from an annular preform. The die comprises an upper and a lower halves made with engravings. The engravings form the final stream with an inner and an outer flash grooves with a magazine and an expanding flash bridge. The flash bridges are made with a one-sided expansion with a curvilinear profile. The shape of the profile is determined considering the equality of the volume of metal displaced from the stream into the flash at the last stage of additional forging and the sum of the volumes of the outer and inner flash bridges at the initial height of the flash bridges equal to the thickness of the flash. The shape of the profile of the outer and inner flash bridges is described by the disclosed equations.
EFFECT: deformation force and metal consumption rate are reduced and endurance of the die is increased as a result.
