SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to pharmacology, and relates to a new use of a known substance hydrochloride of N-2-adamantyl-hexamethyleneimine (himantane) as a means for reducing alcohol motivation in alcohol dependence. It is shown that a single administration himantane rats were dose-dependently reduce the severity of alcohol-deprivation effect in chronic administration and reduces the average consumption of ethanol from the 3^rd day of the experiment. In addition, himantane hinders the realization of the acute effects of ethanol, blocking stimulation of motor activity and restoring incoordination with mild alcohol intoxication. None of the doses studied himantane not affect the duration of anesthesia in mice alcohol.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reducing alcohol motivation for alcohol dependence wherein himantane have no negative side effects such as the development of drug dependence and drug potentiation of ethanol effects.
