FIELD: building industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention describes the method of manufacturing moulded articles comprising coal particles, in which the coal particles are mixed with a water-containing binder system, and the resulting mixture is processed by moulding to obtain the moulded articles, characterised in that before mixing with the water-containing binder system a partial amount of the coal particles are subjected to the impregnation stage at which the particles are impregnated with a substance. The said substance is added in the form of a liquid or using the liquid for impregnation, where the said substance is selected from the group consisting of water-insoluble and/or water repellent substances, aqueous colloidal suspension of a solid material. The solid material has water-repellent properties, and the lower limit of the amount of the said substance added at the stage of impregnation is 0.3 wt % relative to the weight of the coal particles of the material to be reprocessed into the moulding articles. Also the moulded article and its use in the process of iron smelting are disclosed.

EFFECT: obtaining moulding articles with sufficient strength.
