FIELD: metallurgy; technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrolytic methods of processing of metals and can be used for etching strips made of stainless steel. Method involves etching strips made of stainless ferrite steel in bath with a mixture containing H2SO4 and excess of at least one oxidiser, wherein steel electric current is supplied, and said mixture does not contain HF. Second version of method involves treatment of said steel in bath with mixture containing H2SO4 and excess of at least one oxidiser, which provides conversion of iron (II) sulphate into iron (III) sulphate (Fe2(SO4)3), and supply current to steel, wherein concentration of H2SO4 ranges from 10 g/l to 200 g/l.
EFFECT: reduction of total amount of chemical reagents, contained in electrolyte etching.
