FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a system for recognising content of broadcast programs, comprising: a receiver adapted to sample broadcast program content from a broadcast source; a content recognition engine for recognising and storing sampled broadcast program content; and a content database in data communication with content recognition means; content database adapted to return information relating to broadcast program content upon receipt of a query from a client device. System is configured such that in event where content recognition engine is unable to recognise sample broadcast program content, content recognition engine splits unrecognised sample into at least a first and a second sequential portions and appends first portion to a previously recognised sample.
EFFECT: program provides a new method of identifying content, reduces overhead that comes with music recognition requests.
