FIELD: heat-and-power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to heat engineering, specifically to furnace devices, including, at low-grade powdered coal fuel, and can be used in boilers at thermal power plants. Vortex furnace comprises horizontal vortex combustion chamber with a guide cap made in form of circular arc of radius twice smaller than radius of combustion chamber, a diffuser with opening angles 40°≤α≤50° and relative width of neck 0.3 ≤ h ≤ 0.4, vertical cooling chamber and located in upper part of combustion chamber tangential nozzles, main - for supply of fuel-air mix, oriented at an angle of 20° ≤ β ≤ 30° to horizon, and additional - for supply of secondary oxidiser oriented vertically downwards.
EFFECT: technical result is inhibition of Coanda effect in cooling chamber, prevention of carryover of unburnt fuel part of combustion chamber for more complete burning of pulverised coal, reduced level of emission of nitrogen oxides.
