FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: vacuum plasma sandwiched coating. First, a lower layer of titanium nitride is applied. Then upper layer of nitride of titanium, zirconium and chromium at their ratio, wt%: titanium 78.0-84.0, zirconium 6.0-10.0, chrome 8.0-12.0. Coating layers are applied horizontally in one plane by three cathodes, first of which consists of titanium and zirconium, second is made of titanium and arranged opposite first one while third cathode is made from titanium and chrome and located between them, lower layer is applied using second cathode while top layer is applied by first and third cathodes.
EFFECT: increased functionality of cutting tool.
