SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computing technology. Multimode Audio decoder for generating a decoded representation of audio content on basis of a code stream, which is configured to decode values of overall gain in frame from an encoded bit stream, wherein a first subset of frames encoded in a first coding mode and a second subset of frames encoded in a second coding mode, wherein each frame of second subset consists of more than one subframe, decoding of subframe consisting of at least a subset of subframes of second subset of frames corresponding to element of bit stream independently of value of global gain value of corresponding frame, and completes decoding of bit stream using overall gain and corresponding element of bit stream when decoding subframes of subset of subframes of second subset of frames, and values of overall gain in decoding first subset of frames.

EFFECT: technical result consists in enabling adjustment of overall gain without decoding and an additional re-encoding step.
