SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in making thermal imaging devices with cooled matrix photodetectors. Optical system for thermal imaging device consists of serially arranged along optical axis input lens which forms intermediate image and having first negative, second positive and third negative convex-concave lenses, projection lens, containing first positive concave-convex lens, second negative convex-concave lens and third positive biconvex lens and photodetector with cooled diaphragm.

EFFECT: technical result is increase of thermal imager resolution due to increased focal distance, which enables to reduce elementary field of vision, while reducing tele-reduction coefficient and higher image quality.
