MAN-PORTABLE AIR DEFENSE SYSTEM AND ITS OPERATION METHOD Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC F41F3/45

Abstract RU 2593532 C1

FIELD: weapons and ammunition.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to air defense systems. Man-portable air defense system (MANPADS) comprises a missile and a homing head (HH). Missile is equipped with a passive radar homing head. System includes a manual radio frequency emitter with a radio transmitter, 5 radio receivers, a parabolic antenna and a time relay. Missile HH is directed downwards at the angle of 5-15 degrees, and in a preset time after the launch the HH smoothly turns at the angle of approximately 0.1-0.2 degrees downwards. In the MANPADS operating method its processor measures a distance to the target from the sum of reflected and direct signals of the radio frequency emitter, on the final leg it turns the HH precisely aiming it at the target.

EFFECT: technical result of the inventions group is higher combat capabilities of the MANPADS in bad weather conditions.
