FIELD: weapons and ammunition.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to magazines for small arms equipped with automatic separation from the weapon after extraction of the last cartridge. Automatically detachable magazine can be used with different small arms. Automatically detachable magazine consists of a cartridge feeder and a housing equipped with a neck and a locking ledge. Magazine is made so that after extrusion of the last cartridge from the magazine the cartridge feeder is located near the locking ledge and can push the magazine latch located on the weapon out of engagement with the locking ledge. As per the shape of the housing and a method of cartridges location the magazine can be made as a box magazine, as a drum magazine or as a magazine of another suitable type.

EFFECT: technical result is faster and easier replacement of an empty magazine with a full one that reduces the time interval, wherein the arms in non-operational, which is especially important in fighting at short distances, and provides higher firing rate; elimination of random installation of an empty magazine since the empty magazine cannot be locked in the shaft of the magazine receiver, and automatic separation of an empty magazine signals on the need to install a full magazine.
