FIELD: nanotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for application of wear-resistant coatings on cutting tool. Vacuum plasma sandwiched coating is applied. Lower layer is applied of titanium nitride. Then, intermediate layer of titanium carbonitride is applied. Then upper layer of titanium, aluminium and niobium nitride is applied at their ratio, wt. %: titanium 76.7-82.7, aluminium 1.3-3.3, niobium 16.0-20.0. Coating plies are applied by three cathodes arranged horizontally in one plane. First and second cathodes are made from titanium and located opposite to each other. Third cathode of titanium, aluminium and niobium is located between them. Lower and mid layers are applied using first and second cathodes, and upper layer is using three cathodes. Application of bottom layer is preferably carried out at condensation temperature of 600 °C, intermediate is at condensation temperature of 450 °C, and upper is at condensation temperature of 300 °C.
EFFECT: method provides higher functionality of cutting tool due to high resistance of plates with coating.
