FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for production of ultrafine-grained superplastic sheets of titanium-aluminium alloys in production of composite parts by superplastic forming and diffusion welding. Sheets of finished rolled stock from titanium-aluminium alloy, for example, Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb 2.0 mm thick, are initially processed in air by laser radiation and subjected to hot pressing at the pressure of 150 MPa and temperature of 1,250 °C for 2 h. So, the initial coarse-grained layered alloy microstructure is converted into fine grained duplex one having superplasticity and able to be connected at interatomic level, i.e. diffusion welding. Diffusion welding is performed in a vacuum furnace at the temperature of 1,100 °C, gas pressure of 10 MPa and deformation rate of 8·10-5 s-1.

EFFECT: method provides improved strength characteristics of diffusion welded joints of parts from titanium-aluminium alloys.
