FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine and medical equipment. Sampling, at a predetermined rate, light incident on an eye of an individual is performed. Determining when an eyelid is open or closed is performed in order to characterize blinking by calculating a number, time period and pulse width of blinks. Calculating a number of blinks and a duration of the blinks in a given time period is carried out. Comparing the characteristics of blinks to a stored set of samples representative of predetermined intentional blink sequences is carried out. Determining if the blinks correspond to predetermined intentional blink sequences is performed. Utilizing the one or more intentional blink sequences as feedback signals for a control system of an electronic contact lens is carried out. To implement the proposed method the system containing a light detector configured to output a signal corresponding to the intensity of light incident upon an eye is used; amplifier configured to receive the signal and to boost the power level thereof; processor configured to receive the amplified signal. At that, the processor performs sampling at a predetermined rate, saves collected samples, determines and compares blinking characteristics.
EFFECT: invention expands operating performances of the ophthalmic lens for correction and improvement of vision.
