System for generating aerosol contains device for aerosol generation, interacting with a cartridge, and is intended for heating aerosol forming substrate and comprises a vaporizer for heating aerosol forming substrate; at least one air inlet, at least one air outlet, wherein the air inlet and air outlet are arranged so as to define an air flow route between the air inlet and the air; and flow control device to control the size of said flow of at least one air inlet to control air flow rate on the path of air flow, in which flow control device comprises first and second elements, wherein the first and second elements interact to define the above of at least one air inlet, where the first and second elements can move relative to each other so that to change the size of the above of at least one air inlet, and in which the cartridge comprises the first element and the device for generating aerosol contains the second element.
EFFECT: technical result is improved aerosol generation in the device or system for generating aerosol.
