FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of controlling aerosol production in an aerosol-generating device, device comprising an aerosol generating element to which power is supplied, flow channel configured to allow an air flow past aerosol generating element, and a flow sensor configured to detect the air flow in flow channel, method comprising steps of: determining a value of a first parameter related to a change in flow rate; and changing supply of power to aerosol generating element depending on a result of a comparison between value of first parameter and a threshold value, wherein first parameter is derived from a combination of a second parameter that is a measure of a flow rate detected by flow sensor and a third parameter related to flow rate, and wherein third parameter is temperature, power supplied to aerosol generating element, maximum detected flow rate, or a rate of change of flow rate, or is derived from a combination of two or more of temperature, power supplied to aerosol generating element, a maximum detected flow rate, and a rate of change of flow rate.
EFFECT: disclosed method provides for reduction or delay of production of aerosol based not just on measurement of flow rate, but also on other value characterising change in flow characteristics; in particular, by reducing or delaying power supply to aerosol-generating element before end of period of air flow, such as inhalation of user, remaining part of stream can be used for elimination of already formed aerosol, decreasing condensation in device, thus providing favourable conditions of operation.
