FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fibre optics and a method of controlling spectral parameters of the fibre Bragg grating (FBG). Method includes irradiating the FBG with radiation of a tunable vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL), measuring the radiation reflected from the FBG, conversion of the measured radiation into the FBG spectrum. Irradiation of the FBG is performed when the VCSEL is fed with rectangular current pulses with the constant duration from 1 to 500 mcs and up to 12 mA. Conversion of the time signal into the FBG spectrum is performed with a pre-built normalization curve describing the time dynamics of change of the central wavelength of the VCSEL during one rectangular current pulse. To build the normalization curve a narrow-band spectral filter (NBSF) is used. NBSF is radiated with the VCSEL radiation pulses and the reflected radiation is measured. By the obtained data determined are a dependence of the wavelength on the radiation reflected from the NBSF and a dependence of power from the time since the current pulse start.

EFFECT: technical result is the improvement of accuracy of measurements.
