FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used in devices for charging accumulator batteries being stored in order to compensate their self-discharge. Technical result is achieved due to that the device to compensate self-discharge of accumulator batteries additionally includes a protection circuit against short circuits, including a control transistor connected between the throttle and the diode; a resistor connected between the base of the control transistor and positive output of the photocell; a threshold transistor, collector of which is connected to the base of the control transistor, and an emitter with a diode anode, the cathode of which is connected to the positive terminal of the device; and series-connected second resistor and two diodes connected between the positive output of the photocell and the negative bus, while the midpoint between the second resistor and the diodes is connected to the base of the threshold transistor.

EFFECT: technical result is aimed at improvement of the device reliability.
