FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to psychiatry, and can be used for treating involutional melancholia. For this purpose, medicamentous therapy and hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) are being simultaneously conducted. 40-50 mg of paroxetine is being administrated in two stages for 40 days. 10-12 mg of diazepam is being administrated 1 time a day for 20 days. Mexidol is being also intravenously administrated by drop infusion, first, in a daily dose of 200-250 mg for the first 20 days, and then 375-400 mg of mexidol in tablets are being ingested for the following 20 days. 1.2-1.3 ml of 0.01% timogen solution is being intramuscularly administrated in an amount of 10 injections, then 1.2-1.3 ml of 0.01% timogen solution is being intramuscularly administrated in an amount of 10 injections every second day. HBO is being carried out with excessive pressure of 0.8-1.2 atm at compression and decompression rate of 0.1 atm per minute, isopression period makes 40 minutes. HBO is being performed since first days of treatment 1 time a day for 30 days.

EFFECT: method provides fast and complete reduction of guiding symptoms without using neuroleptic agents due to potentiation of pharmacological effect of the administered drug combination and HBO with respect to reduction of mental function disorders, immunological disorders and restoration of endocrine functions.
