FIELD: veterinary science.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to veterinary science and aims at preventing and treating of respiratory diseases in calves. Method involves using of aqueous alcohol tincture containing purple echinacea herb, inula rhizome, prepared on the basis of 70 % vol. of ethanol. Daily 2 times a day in the morning and in the evening for 10-14 days for 20-30 minutes before feeding given orally at a dose of 0.09-0.10 ml on 1 kg of animals weight diluted for 1-2 hours before using, in 120-140 ml of boiling water at temperature 36-38 °C water-alcohol tincture. Infusion is prepared as follows: 2 parts of purple echinacea, 1 part of inula rootstock, 1 part of calendula flowers are mixed with 70 % vol. rectified ethyl alcohol in ratio 1:5 and kept at temperature 36-38 °C for 10-14 days. Then obtained infusion is brought to 30 % concentration with distilled water.

EFFECT: proposed invention using is highly effective for prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases in calves.
