SUBSTANCE: absorbent article comprising a separate belt intended to be placed around waist of wearer and an absorbent pad detachably attached to belt and held by belt when article is used, wherein pad comprises a chassis having a liquid-permeable top sheet, a liquid-impermeable back sheet and an absorbent core between top sheet and back sheet, wherein absorbent pad includes a front portion, a rear portion and a crotch portion there between in longitudinal direction and wherein absorbent pad at each of its longitudinal ends is detachably attached to a surface of belt oriented away from wearer using attaching arrangements provided on each corner of front portion and rear portion of pad, wherein at least one of front and rear portion is provided with a waist elastic arranged symmetrically on each side of longitudinal centre line and extending between attaching elements in transverse direction of pad, wherein waist elastic is provided at waist portion of at least one of front and rear portion and is movable between a contracted condition in which top sheet and/or back sheet exhibit(s) pleats and a fully stretched condition in which pleats of the top sheet and/or back sheet are fully stretched out, wherein elastic force from said waist elastic is within range of from 2 N to 7 N when elastic is in fully stretched condition.
