FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing dialkyl peroxydicarbonate in a liquid organic solvent (S). Method is carried out at least partially in presence of liquid organic solvent (S), and includes at least one step during which alkyl haloformate reacts with inorganic peroxide in medium containing water and solvent (S). Solvent (S) is selected from compounds of empirical formula A-(CnH(2n-2))-B (I), in which: -A is chlorine (A1) or functional group (A2), corresponding to structure R-C(=O)-O-, where R is a substituted or unsubstituted, linear or branched C1-C20 alkyl radical; -B is a hydrogen atom or, when A is not (A2), chlorine (A1); and n such that 3 ≤ n ≤ 8. Objects of invention also include an organic solution of dialkyl peroxydicarbonate in solvent (S) and method of producing polymer formed from one or more halogenated ethylenically unsaturated monomers, in presence of obtained organic solution of dialkyl peroxydicarbonate as an initiator. Used solvent (S) exhibits a property of being incorporated into growing macromolecular chains of polymers, derived from halogenated ethylenically unsaturated monomers.

EFFECT: technical result is production of a stable organic solution of dialkyl peroxydicarbonate "ex situ", which increases efficiency of polymerisation method.
