FIELD: pipes.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for longitudinal seam welding of profiled tubes. On a welding system, in particular for high-frequency welding of longitudinal seam, is fed a pipe with butt weld, moulded on a forming mill from metal strip directly in line or obtained by pressure from at least one sheet metal. Butt longitudinal seam is formed by means of rollers (8), providing for pressing of connected pipe edges to each other to form a narrowing gap with a V-shape. Weld point (11) is inspected in narrowest point of edges of butt seam by means of thermal video camera (12), aimed at top of V-shaped gap. Temperature fluctuations of weld point with highest temperature is continuously measured and its migration in vertical and horizontal direction is determined. Obtained data are processed in processor (7) and welding parameters are adjusted based on condition of maintaining said weld point in same position.

EFFECT: optimised welding process for producing a weld seam of high-quality.
