SUBSTANCE: technical solution relates to railway automation and telemechanics. Device comprises sensors layout and evaluation unit, wherein sensors layout includes first temperature sensor, adjacent in first heating element area to one of switch rails, in particular, to point rail, and second temperature sensor, adjacent in second heating element area to one of switch rails, in particular, to same rail, wherein one of temperature sensors, in particular, all of temperature sensors, are arranged on corresponding rail side, opposite to corresponding heating element. In method at least one of switch rails is heated, in at least two switch areas temperature is recorded and based on that formed, accordingly, temperature value, making conclusion on faults in switch operation, if one of temperature values is below threshold value.
EFFECT: higher quality of heating elements operability verification.
