FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aluminothermic production of ferrotitanium containing 28–40 wt% titanium. Charge contains ilmenite concentrate, containing 59–65 wt% TiO2, crushed titanium-containing electrical furnace slag containing 54–59 wt% TiO2, crushed slag from ferrotitanium production containing 17–21 wt% TiO2, secondary aluminium, lime with carbon content not exceeding 0.3 %, iron scale, 65 % ferrosilicon and steel scrap. Charge is melted in electric furnace at ratio of ilmenite concentrate, crushed titanium-containing electric furnace slag and crushed slag from production of ferrotitanium, equal to (9.4–10.5):(1.4–1.6):1, at ratio of lime with carbon content of not more than 0.3 wt% to titanium-containing material equal to 1:(3.7–4.0), and to aluminium equal to 1:(2.0–2.3).
EFFECT: production of ferrotitanium with low content of phosphorus and harmful impurity elements, as well as increased extraction of titanium from raw material into alloy.
