FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analysis of stresses and deformations of solid body with the help of polarization-optical methods. When implementing method of analyzing stress and deformation of solid body, flat model made of piezo-optical material not having mechanical stress is exposed to local heat flux. Further, this model is illuminated with monochromatic, white or polarized along the circle light and interference pattern is registered. Model is cooled and distribution of isoclines and isochrome-strips are analyzed with the help of polarizing microscope. Presence of significant thermal stresses, occurring in non-loaded model at the boundary of local thermal action, is defined by the maximum number of isochrome-strips in the area from -0.5 to + 3.0 mm from the edge of local heat spot.
EFFECT: technical result consists in possibility of detecting stress and deformation by sample exposure to local heat flux.
