SUBSTANCE: invention relates to water redispersible polymer powders based on acrylic copolymers and acrylamide, which can be used as a polymer binder in construction mixes, as film forming component in coating materials and adhesives, as water repelling agent for paper and textiles, sand, clay and other purposes. Disclosed water redispersible polymer powder for coatings, comprising styrene and acrylate monomers, polymerisation initiator and a protective colloid system. The polymer powder comprises butylmethacrylate, metacrylic acid and acrylamide as monomers, 2.2'-azoisobutyronitril as a polymerisation initiator, polyvinyl alcohol as a protective colloid, n-dodecyl mercaptan as chain length regulator, and a dispersion agent at a ratio of (pt.wt.): butylmethacrylate - 40.0-80.0, metacrylic acid - 10.0-50.0, acrylamide - 5.0-30.0, styrene - 5-15.0, 2.2'-azoisobutyronitril 0.1-5.0, n-dodecyl mercaptan - 0.1-5.0, polyvinyl alcohol - 10-50, dispersion agent - 0.1-5.0.

EFFECT: invention provides improved stability of water dispersed polymer, high chemical resistance coating for corrosive environments, high stress-strength performance on various substrates.
