FIELD: forestry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to forestry, namely, to biophysics of woody plants. Method is based on generation of thermal effect in xylary tissue and measurement of sap temperature. Method is implemented by means of two needle temperature sensors, combined with heating elements. Heating sensors are placed in xylary tissue one above another at the specified distance by height. Thermal pulses are generated in heating sensors in series, at designated time intervals. Determination of sap flow rate is carried out through analysis of received temperature curves. Herewith the fact of zero flow rate is detected without any additional measurement procedures and devices.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of sap flow rate measurement at low and high rates is achieved.
