The measurements of continuous billets length are made; at the time of detection of the joint or immediately after stopping the welding the determination of the total length to be cut a continuous tubular blank section is made, the determination of the number of dimensional pipes and pipe of shorter length, which must be cut to remove the defect at the end of the pipe, and the determination of the length of the truncated pipes, drives the moving mechanism of management of continuous billets for the withdrawal of the workpiece on the operating speed, stopping the drive in the automatically defined point in time in case of non-urgent stop welding, reduce, prior to the cutting of pipes to shortened length, workpiece transfer speed to the value, defined by the mathematical relationship, with increasing the speed of workpiece motion after stopping the cutting process of the shortened pipe. EFFECT: increasing the output of tubes of measured length, reducing the number of pipes shortened length and waste.
