SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image reading means for image reading device. Method comprises receiving HTML data from a web server, wherein HTML data include data for display screen with scanning settings. Screen with scanning settings is displayed in accordance with HTML data. Light-emitting unit is switched on and transition is initiated to state wherein start of scanning process may be indicated by using a starting key, in response to a script obtained from web server after receiving HTML data. Light-emitting unit is switched off in case when transition from screen with scanning settings to another screen takes place at when light-emitting unit is turned on. Scanner is controlled to start scanning process based on scanning settings, specified through screen with scanning settings in case when start key is pressed while light-emitting unit is turned on.
EFFECT: technical result is enabling use of both hardware button, and software button in a web application.
